Where can we go?

We are located on the Kalamazoo River, across the river from downtown Saugatuck. From our location, you may take the boats upstream to a beautiful waterfowl preserve perfect for bird-watching and fishing. If you’re looking for tubing or skiing, you can do that on Kalamazoo Lake or Silver Lake. Heading downstream towards Lake Michigan is another scenic preserve. 45 minutes will get you to ‘The Cove’ the local’s spot to anchor, swim, and explore the sand dunes. Lake Michigan is only available if the waves are 2 feet or less (roughly 60% of summer).

How do I book?

All of our availability and pricing is the easiest to access on our website. Just like renting a car, a good amount of information is needed to create and confirm your booking, it is best if you complete the booking online yourself.

Who can drive the boat? Is there a captain?

Anyone 18 or older, can rent any of our electric boats. Only those born before July 1, 1996 are permitted to drive a motorized boat without a Boater’s Safety Permit. Anyone born after July 1, 1996 will need to present a valid Boater’s Safety Permit.

To inquire about captains, please call.

Can we bring a cooler?

Yes! We encourage you to bring a cooler of whatever you’d like! We’ll have ice for sale in 2025 and will not be selling any food or drink. The driver must remain sober and is responsible for all passengers. We ask that you be mindful of the boats and keep your garbage contained.

What if the weather is bad or we need to cancel?

If lightning or thunder is in the area, we will cancel and fully refund your rental for safety. If it is raining, we will offer the option to cancel for a refund. We will make the decision for cancellations and refunds the morning of the rental. Weather changes quickly in West Michigan so we do not cancel further out. Renter’s may cancel their booking 7 days in advance for a full refund. Within 7 days of the reservation, we will issue a 50% refund.

What should we bring?

Good vibes. Sunscreen, sunglasses, towels, driver’s license, a change of clothes, coolers, snacks, drinks, and a downloaded playlist. Things are cooler on the water, so bring an extra layer or a blanket – we do not cancel if the air is a bit chilly!

Can we buy ice at Unsalted?

Starting in 2025, we will have 7lb bags of ice available to purchase! We’ll also have some water and other refreshments available, just ask!

Can we go on Lake Michigan?

We are the ONLY boat rental company in West Michigan insured for Lake Michigan access. Lake Michigan is only available if the waves are 2 feet or less (roughly 60% of summer). You must stay within 1 mile of shore.

Do you deliver?

Yes we do! We offer deliver on full-day and multi-day rentals. Give us a call for pricing and availability.

Where do we park?

Great question! If you are already parked or are staying downtown, take the chain ferry across. If you are driving, we ask that you take as few vehicles as possible to park at our location. 405 Park. Ave Saugatuck, MI 49453

Can we visit restaurants?

Downtown Saugatuck has many wonderful restaurant options! If you are confident with docking, there are dock lines and fenders onboard. The dingy dock has public slips available – please ask our staff for more information.

What about life jackets and other safety items?

Every boat is equipped with the required safety items. Everyone 6 and under must wear a life jacket at all times. Our team will provide a certified jacket for anyone that asks. If you plan to be tubing or skiing, we have action life jackets available.

When should we arrive?

We recommend arriving 15 minutes before your reservation starts. If you have a large group, feel free to arrive earlier. We except about 10 minutes of safety briefing before each rental departs.

Any other tips?

Service can be a bit spotty on the river, if you plan on listening to music, we recommend downloading a playlist (or two)!

The air on the water can be a bit cooler than elsewhere, bring and extra layer or a blanket.

If it’s a bit windy, the chain ferry won’t be running – you’ll need to drive over the bridge.

Are you running late? Give us a call and we’ll accommodate the best we can!
